Mini Sessions, Big Impact

Restoring the Remnant Trauma Healing Community   www.restoringtheremnantrtr.org

Trauma is a word many people shy away from because it feels heavy or uncomfortable. When I first began facilitating trauma healing groups, several people encouraged me to avoid using the word trauma altogether. They believed participation would increase if I used language that sounded lighter or more comforting.

I declined.

Domestic violence is not light.   Rape is not light.   Moral injury is not light.   HIV/AIDS is not light.   Suicide is not light.

These are dark experiences that require the light of God to expose what is broken so the beautiful can be revealed or remembered. Our stories may be traumatic, but through healing groups, they transform into triumphant narratives.

Healing does not require a crowd, just good company. I tried healing in isolation, and it was difficult. I ran with certain crowds from work, church, and my neighborhood, but it was not always good company.

In 2015, God said, Build Restoring the Remnant.   Out of obedience, our community of hope and healing was birthed through the Holy Spirit in Dover, Delaware.

Trauma is a deep, painful, distressing response to ugly places, things, and people.

It is:

  • The hurt that comes from being violated by someone you trusted.

  • The intense anger that burns within and causes a person to start fires everywhere they go.

  • The funky attitude toward everybody when nobody in the room did anything to you.

  • The projection you give because of the protection you never received.

Our community helps us relearn how to live again. It teaches us how to move from trauma to triumph and from paralysis to purpose.

Our chosen family consists of those who are not trauma‑bonding but triumphantly building. We have a renewed mindset, and we recognize the importance of:

Trauma has a way of opening the door to sin—someone in need. Rape can transfer spirits of lust, drive promiscuity, gender confusion, and disdain for a particular sex or for sex itself.

Some people live with moral injury daily. I have sat with individuals who work for administrations they wholeheartedly disagree with, yet they stand in the face of their internal conflict.

We provide a safe and sacred space for people to be imperfect, receive grace, and grow in their faith.

Courageous Conversations, Triumphant Outcomes

We understand that:

  • Courageous conversations dismantle conflict.

  • Triumphant conversations demonstrate greatness.

Bearing one another’s burdens fulfills the law of Christ because God said it is not good for man to be alone. We are here to catch one another and pull one another up, according to Ecclesiastes 4:10.

Trauma mini sessions have a big impact.

The shame associated with the word trauma is often the first concern a person must confront before signing up for a group. The very act of signing up implies that you identify with the word in some shape or form.

I commend all who step into trauma healing groups for their bravery.

The trauma may be connected to you or someone you love. The fact that you push past societal stigma to heal is admirable.

Restoring the Remnant facilitators have not only said yes to triumph but model excellence in recovery and refreshment. We understand that a new normal is equivalent to:

“God makes all things new—including you.”   (Revelation 21:5)

Jesus: The Door to Healing

Our sessions are simply a path to the door, and that door is Jesus.

Jesus opens the door to:

  • Healing

  • A new life

  • A renewed mindset

  • Everything needed to live life abundantly

Community opens the door to vulnerability and transformation. Our mandate is to help those who are willing to come as they are and know they do not have to remain traumatized or paralyzed.

We are all pressing toward the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus. He is the answer to every problem, and one solution He has given us is mini trauma sessions—which are making a huge impact.
